|The National Science Foundation (NSF) has initiated a Thematic Research Programme on Climate Change & Natural Disasters which aims to address the challenges Sri Lanka faces as a result of climate change. Through this exercise, it is expected to create a virtual research group to identify potential research groups to invite to submit research proposals.

|The CLIFF-GRADS fellowship program invites applications from students from developing countries currently enrolled in masters or PhD programs for short-term scientific research to expand the evidence base for the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions from reduced food loss and waste in priority supply chains in developing countries.|

The Early Career Women Scientists (ECWS) fellowship is a prestigious award of up to USD 50,000 offered to women who have completed their PhDs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects and are employed at an academic or scientific research institute in one of the listed Science and Technology Lagging Countries (STLCs). ECWS fellows will be supported to continue their research at an international level while based at their home institutes and to build up research groups that will attract international visitors.

|Island-wide search now on for talented inventors|
Island-wide selection process aiming at ‘Sahasak Nimavum 2018’, National Invention and innovation exhibition organized by the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission (SLIC) is now in progress at provincial level.
Inventions selected at the provincial level will be qualified for the national exhibition and “Dasis” Trophy will be awarded for the most outstanding invention in each category along with cash prizes. All the winning entries will be awarded a certificate and will be entitled to enjoy great privileges such as opportunity to participate in international completions and provision of guidance in commercialization
